In the thirteenth year of Guangxu(1887), Zhang Zhidong, the Governor of Guangdong and Guangxi, was commissioned to order the British Minister to order a full set of mint machines in the United Kingdom, and to cast the silver and copper coins in the Guangdong Money Bureau. Afterwards, the provinces followed suit and purchased foreign machinery to cast silver and copper coins.

In 1894, Guangdong Governor Kangyi celebrated the 60th birthday of Empress Dowager Cixi(October 10th of the Lunar New Year) and ordered the Guangdong Money Bureau to manufacture 30,000 "Guangdong Province made Guangxu Yuanbao Shuanglong Shou coins as gifts. The coin is divided into two typography, namely, Kuping weighs one or two coins and Kuping seven money two coins. The two typographical coin design styles are the same, but there are many differences in detail. Kuping weighs 45 mm in diameter and weighs 37g. The front is bounded by a bead circle. It can be divided into two parts: outside the bead circle, the upper end is the "Guangdong Province Made" four-character character, and the bottom is the "Kuping one or two" five-character character., each side cast a bat pattern; Within the bead circle, there are four characters: Manchu and Chinese "Guangxu Yuanbao". The back is also bounded by a bead circle: outside the bead circle, a double dragon pattern is cast; Inside the bead circle, there is a circular "Shou" character. This kind of silver coin has a very prominent feature, that is, there is a bat pattern on each side of the coin. At that time, its image was cast on silver coins, which had auspicious meanings. Because the bat's "bat" character is the same as the happy "Fu" character, the bat pattern is cast on the coin surface and the two words "bat" and "Fu" are homonym. Kuping Qiqian II(one explanation is that at that time, the Ministry of Housing implemented the "Seven Money and Two Standard", and the other explanation was used as a birthday coin, which contained ominous meaning), 39 mm in diameter and weighing 26-27 g. The word "Guangdong Province" is on the upper end of the front bead circle. Below is the five characters "Kuping Qi Qian Er", the left and right sides each cast a bat pattern, the bead circle cast full, the Chinese "Guangxu Yuanbao" four characters; The back of the bead circle is cast with a double dragon pattern, and a circular "Shou" character is cast inside.

In 1894(the 20th year of Guangxu), the Battle of Toshima broke out on July 25th. The Sino-Japanese War began. Due to the lack of preparation of the Qing Dynasty, the war was defeated by China and the Beiyang Navy's entire army ended. The failure of the war disrupted Cixi's birthday plan. On September 25, Cixi ordered the cancellation of the birthday plan in the Ningshou Palace.

Guangdong Zongdukang saw no hope of pleasing Cixi. He ordered the Guangdong Money Bureau to melt almost all of the 30,000 coins back to the furnace, leaving only more than ten pieces as samples.

With the changes of the times, "Guangdong Province made Guangxu Yuanbao Shuanglong Shou character currency" increasingly appears to be less expensive, of which Kuping weighs one or two, and because of the serious shortage of numbers, he was promoted to the top of the silver dollar "Ten Great Zhen".
